I'll assume you purchased VB and this is your backup...in which case the original should work fine, but it doesnt sound like the you have the right disk. Nowhere in the install of VB6 does it require Java. Not unless you got some wierd copy from school or something.

Hi Andir,

I must tell you that if you have Windows XP Proffessional then VB6 install's Java Virtual Machine. If you don't install Java then it does not continues.

But i have never encountered the problem DavidI is getting. There must be some solution to this problem. Better check MS website for more info.

Thanks!

Version: 8176
VBA: Retail 6.0.8169
Forms3: 2.01

Is this the same you have ?

Thanks!

Does the Help | About show the right version? I don't think it does. Here are my numbers:
Version: 8988
Retail: 6.0.8964
Forms: 2.01

I would assume that's after patching. I remember buying my CD back in 98 or 99. the CD face doesnt have any signifying versions on it. It's from CD batch X04-67087 if that helps.

Edit: Mines an Academic version I got when I was in school. But since I'm still using it to learn, and the one I use at work is for "profit". I figure I'm still ok.
