Ok everyone - please be patient!
My employer has asked me to to create a database on Microsoft SQL server and use VB as the front end. I have worked with VB before and used Access (jet engine 4.0) as my database.
Can someone let me know how to connect to SQL server? |

how do you normally connect to the access database? do you use ADO? (ADODB.Connection / Recordset) If so, it's a matter of just changing your connection string.
I like to make DSN files in the ODBC Administrator and make the connectionstring = "fileDSN=" & filepath
That way I can change the DSN file and make it point to an SQL server instead of Access, DB2, Oracle or whatever else ODBC will connect to. This makes the program dynamic enough to run on almost any database. _________________ If you happen to see little people sitting on your desk...don't tell anyone or they might think your crazy too. |

Thanks! I did use connection string before...I'm a little tied up with a few other projects right now - we've decided to put this database on the backburner for now...but when I get to it, I'll try out ya'lls suggestions.
