Why won't it install on xp ???
3 xp users have reported the same problem.
they download my free program from my website .. www (dot) wa0h (dot) com .. the (0) is the number zero.
they install it and it runs ok.
then they buy the registered version of the program on CD .. uninstall the website version .. and try to install the CD version.
when they try to run the CD (setup.exe) program, they get a .. can't run setup error message.
hundreds of xp users have installed the CD program without any problems .. it is only those who previously installed the website version that have the problem.
the only difference between the website version and the CD version is that one of the internal (name and address) databases is a skeleton (3 records) database in the website version.
i wrote the program in VB-6 with SP-6 installed.
i use the same procedure for creating the 2 distribution packages (cab file & setup.exe program).
i don't do anything tricky like putting something in the registry that will stop the program after a certain period.
i have not been able to find out what the exact error message is .. other than a message that setup.exe can not be run.
have you heard of this type of problem before ???
jerry .. wa0h (at) arrl.net .. (0) is the number zero. |

jerryham,
could there possibly be a problem with your installer? What installer are you using? |
