Download visual basic or software made in vb? Download is sold, it can't be downloaded for free.

Visual Basic is a program with is sold my Micrsoft for money. It usually ranges from $99 - $120 for the standard version.....which is really worth the price. It is not really that expensive, so why not just buy it anyway. (It also includes a user manual, a beginning VB programming sample book and more) I have heard of some european University allowing people to download Visual Basic Learning Edition off their site for free but I have never found that site.

In short....it is just worth it to buy it

You MAY still be able to download the VB5 Control Creation Edition. It's designed to let you create ActiveX controls, but it was sometimes included with VB5/6 books since it let's you play with VB for free. It won't let you compile programs however. (You can't make .exe files with it.)

Any other free downloads of VB that you may find are cracks and therefore illegal. Plus, you run the risk that the download is actually spyware or much worse.

I tell folks to get their hands on a copy of Teach Yourself Visual Basic 6 In 24 Hours. It includes the Control Creation Edition, and is a decent reference book. New, it sold for $25 USD. You can probably pick up a copy cheap from Amazon or ebay. Just make sure you get the CD with it.

Ya, search google for the Control Creation Edition of VB5 on google and there is a whole website dedicated to it. You can still download it from Microsoft. I would recommending trying the Control Creation Edition and if you like it get VB6 or VB.NET. (I would recommend VB6, I don't like VB.NET)

You don't like it cause you don't know it :p Just kidding... I would suggest .Net if you're starting out now. The new version (VB.Net 2005) is only about a month away. It comes out in November Smile

Ya, you might want to get the Visual Basic 8 Express coming out soon!

http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/vbasic/default.aspx <- Beta Information

It costs something like $49.00 for the Express Version, which might be a great price!
