Eventually version 6 will probably disappear and will be replaced by .Net. So it'll probably be best if you get the .Net version. MS will also stop support for 6 around 2008 if I remember correctly...

I'm focusing most of my time recently to VB.NET. I can see that it has alot of potential and it seems to be able to create way more powerful applications.

Another thing I read about it is that (according to Microsoft) when/if a .NET framework (runtime environment) is in place in OS's like Apple/Linux/Solaris environments, your programs should run on those systems as well. Though I don't see Microsoft helping the competition anytime soon, so I'd assume it was up to someone else to decipher how exactly that would happen.

Also, I've been asked more and more at work, "Do you know .NET?". I can only tell them I don't, and see the demand for someone who does.
